Attendance is the number one reason that students drop out of school. Chronic Absenteeism (missing 10% of days enrolled) impacts not only the student that misses school, but their classmates, the teacher, the school climate and the community as a whole. Using attendance data to identify early those students who are chronically absent, find out why they are missing and implementing the appropriate tiered response will keep students engaged and on track to graduate. This session will look at what chronic absenteeism is, its impact on students, teachers and the school, how to build an “every student, every day” attendance expectation and what interventions will help get students back on track if they start missing too much school.
